- Cades Cove
11 miles of Nature and the rich history of Tennessee. Deer, Wild Turkey, and sometimes Bear find their way into your line of sight making this one of the most popular tours here. Historical log homes, hand hewn in the Smokies, by early pioneers offer fun & informative diversions along the way. It is also possible to walk, bike or stroll along this paved road.
- Laurel Falls
A 2.6-mile round-trip hike on the Laurel Falls Trail. The trail is paved to the falls. The trailhead is 3.9 miles west of Sugarlands Visitor Center on Little River Road.
- Mingo Falls (outside Park)
A .5 mile round-trip hike. From Oconaluftee Visitor Center, drive south on US 441 and take second left onto Big Cove Road. At first stop sign, turn left and drive 4.5 miles to Mingo Falls Campground.
- Hen Wallow Falls
A 4.5-mile round-trip hike. Take the Gabes Mountain Trail that begins from the parking area at the entrance to Cosby Campground. Beyond the falls, Gabes Mountain Trail leads to old-growth forest.
- Indian Creek Falls
A 2-mile round-trip hike. Take the Deep Creek Trail that starts just past Deep Creek Campground.
- Juney Whank Falls
A .6 mile round-trip hike. The trail starts from the parking are just past Deep Creek Campground.
- Rainbow Falls
A 5.5-mile round-trip hike. The trail starts from the Rainbow Falls parking area on Cherokee Orchard Road near Gatlinburg.
- Ramsay Cascades
An 8-mile round-trip hike. Take US Hwy 321 (East Parkway) 6 miles east of Gatlinburg, to the Greenbrier entrance to the park. Follow the signs to the Ramsay Cascades trailhead.
- Newfound Gap Road
26 miles of curling twists up through the mountains of Tennessee & North Carolina, reaching heights of 5,048 ft. Offering vistas, bluffs and roadside exhibits. An excellent way to start your vacation in the Smokies
- Chimneys
Newfound Gap Road Large picnic area on banks of Little Pigeon River, with picnic tables, grills, restrooms, and huge boulders that can put you in the middle of the river.
- Deep Creek
Hwy. 19 from Cherokee Covered amphitheater with several waterfall hikes nearby
- Greenbrier
Hwy. 321 from Gatlinburg Open & sheltered picnic areas in a perfect setting
- Heintooga
Balsam Mountain Road Highest picnic area in park offering great views
- Metcalf Bottoms
Little River Road Shady picnic tables in the cozy woods or along the river. Swimming in a cool mountain stream on a muggy summer day is an experience like no other. Always use caution and common sense and never swim alone.

- Balsam Mountain Road
A 9 mile trip that takes about 30 min along the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is a Two-way, paved road.
- Cades Cove Loop
An 11 mile trip taking an hour through the Cades Cove Historic District along a One-way, paved road.
- Cataloochee
A 6 mile journey which lasts about 30 min starting at I-40 and U.S. 276. this is a Two-way, dead end road.
- Cherokee Orchard Road
A 3.5 mile stretch lasting only 15 minutes, beginning in Gatlinburg to Roaring Fork, a Two-way, paved road.
- Heintooga Ridge
A 14 mile, 1 hour trip along Balsam Mountain Road, a Two-way, paved road.
- Parson Branch
Is only an 8 mile journey but takes about an hour through Cades Cove, a One-way, unpaved road..
- Rich Mountain Road
7 miles in an hour, whew! Through Cades Cove then onto a One-way, unpaved road.
- Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail
is a must see, 5 mile trip which will take about an hour. It is a One-way paved road via Cherokee Orchard Road.

Sugarlands Welcome Center The Sugarlands Welcome Center is both a visitors center and museum featuring natural exhibits of the National Park and a 20 minute film presentation. There are Ranger programs conducted seasonally, books for sale, backcountry permit station, public restrooms and more. This is a good place to spend the morning with young kids or older kids who have a taste for nature.
Townsend Wye One of the most popular swimming holes in this area of the Smokies, the "Y" is a small river that lets you swim or tube in natural surroundings. Great for a cool swim in hot summer afternoons. Located in Townsend through the National Park in Gatlinburg
